ITINERARY:

DAY:1

We will pick up our travelers from your hotel at approximately 04:00 am and we will go to the Ollantaytambo station, located 02 hours from the city of Cusco. From here we will take a train to Km. 104, where we will start our walk. After crossing to the south side of the Urubamba River, we will see the Chachabamba Archaeological Group. Discovered in 1940, it is believed that it was a guard house that protected the entrance to Machu Picchu, being a point of control along the old Camino Real. Those who choose the Inca Trail for 4 days do not pass these ruins. From Chachabamba we will begin to climb the mountain on the road to Wiñaywayna, four hours on foot from our original starting point. On the way, we will enter the forest and cross a stream before entering the open meadows for a couple of hours. As we enter the forest, we will go to a waterfall (another of the places that do not see those that make the Caesico path) before reaching the terraces, houses and baths of the Inca ruins of the Wiñaywayna archaeological site. After the guided tour, we will continue for another two hours, winding around the mountain and entering the rainforest and climbing the 50 stone steps that will take us to the Intipunku, Puerta del Sol. The segment of the route is the same than the 4-day Inca Trail. From here we will have an impressive view of what the next day we have: the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. From here we will descend to the small town of Machu Picchu Pueblo (known colloquially as Aguas Calientes), where we will settle in our reserved hotel.

DAY: 2

AGUAS CALIENTES-MACHUPICCHU-CUSCO Rise early to catch the first bus to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise over the "Lost City of the Incas." Get a guided tour of the sacred citadel and hear some of the theories about why it was built. Step back in time and admire the craftsmanship of the cobblestone streets and ancient temples of the Incas. Return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Ollantaytambo, where a vehicle will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
